Mission & Initiatives

Who We Are

The Junior Economic Club of Nashville is a student-run organization that exposes determined high school students to the real worlds of business and economics through networking events, workshops, programs, and community outreach initiatives.

Given the right guidance and support, high school students are capable of addressing issues facing our society today… and tomorrow. The education system does not adequately prepare students for the growing complexity of the economy or the changing business environment. By starting preparation early, the Junior Economic Club can serve Nashville’s prosperity and growth for generations to come.

(the Junior Economic Club of Nashville is affiliated with the Junior Economic Club of Chicago which is a 501 (c)(3) Non-profit organization)

Our Initiatives

The Junior Economic Club has a three-faceted approach to achieving its mission and enriching the futures of its club members.

Economic Forums Our quarterly events bring together JEC members with leading local business people and experts as well as providing dynamic, finance-focused discussions.  The forums also foster meaningful connections among like-minded peers and with established professionals — providing a jumping-off point and a foundation for the future. Each event features distinct keynote speakers in fields of economics, entrepreneurship, business, and finance and includes a networking session. The JEC is always forging partnerships to give its members new and exciting opportunities.
Junior Economist The Junior Economist is a blog composed of articles written by members of the JEC. The articles strive to pique interest a with fresh ideas and diverse perspectives on issues in economics, finance, and entrepreneurship.
Community Outreach Serving and guiding the community are essential to leadership . The JEC initiative, High Returns, empowers children through age-appropriate financial literacy lessons.  Our chapter will work to adapt this curriculum to meet local needs.
